Joseph F. Smith, "remeber the f". He was born November 13th, 1838 in Far West, Caldwell county, Missouri. His parents are Hyrum Smith and Mary Fielding.
His father, Hyrum Smith was martyred alongside his brother Joseph.
He helped his mother cross the plains and they established a home in Salt Lake city, Utah. After she died in 1852, he served the church, as well as Utah's territorial legislature. He was ordained an apostle by Brigham Young. He served in the First Presidencies for several prophets until he became the President on October 17, 1901.
While guiding the church into the 20th century, he brought the saints to a better appreciation of LDS Church History. He developed Church historical sites in New York, Missouri and Illinois, building a visitor's bureau, thus helping to improve the image of the church.
He died on November 19, 1918 in Salt Lake City at the age of 80.
