He was born May 6th, 1915, in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, Utah.
His parents are Marvin O. Ashton and Rachel Jeremy.
He was sustained as an assistant to the Twelve Apostles on October 3, 1969. He was ordained an Apostle on Devember 2nd, 1971 by Harold B. Lee
One time I was downtown at the bus depot. I swear I saw him ministering to the needs of those arriving and/or hanging out there. It strengthened my testimony to see an apostle, actually involved on the front lines, fulfilling his calling.
